Our company´s history began on March 1, 2000. At that time, we farmed a 570 – hectare land and we had six employees.
We rented the premises of the farmyard in Veškovce from the bankruptcy trustee. Later we bought it and decided to develop the tradition of the former State-owned Seed Enterprise. We have been dealing with the seed multiplication since the very beginning.

Everything we offer is grown in our fields and under our own professional supervision. The sowing plan includes cereals, oilseed rape, soybeans, peas and white mustard. We currently manage an area of 1,850 hectares in eleven cadastres, and we have built a technological base for seed production at the highest level.

We also started with a pig farming. At the end of March 2016 we bought 6 breeding gilts BU X L and one Duroc breeding boar. In August 2016, the very first 20 piglets were born.

TOP AGRO 2020
Every year, the organizers of the TOP AGRO Slovakia Competition, the Club of Agricultural Journalists, try to find an interesting place where to organize the handing over ceremony of this most prestigious Agro-competition. More than 400 companies participated in the competition this year. Each of them was able to obtain the maximum of 300 points of the integrated indicator and its ranking determined the order within the first hundred companies.
On 18 August,2020, the results of the 25th Top Agro competition were announced in Šamorín with the participation of 250 farmers from the entire region of Slovakia.
In the category of trading companies working in disadvantaged area, MATEX company was awarded 1st place for the third time.
The Award was accepted by one of the company’s CEO, Ing. Ladislav Kováč at the Hotel Senec in Senec.
MATEX is ranked 28th place in best companies overall.
TOP Agro 2017
On October 24, 2018, the most important competition of managements in the Slovak Agro-Food Industry was organized by the Club of Agricultural Journalists under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber. This prestigious prize called Top-Agro Slovakia is awarded from 1995. Every year, the Top-Agro Award presents a group of the best agricultural companies and farms. The economic results of agricultural entities are evaluated on the basis of Information Sheets, where the farmers confirm their consent to the processing of results or the application. Indicators that express some complexity are used in the evaluation of chosen agricultural entities.
MATEX was ranked 7th best trading company in Slovakia among hundreds of other companies.
What is more important, Matex won, for the second time in the company’s history, the 1st prize in the category of agricultural companies and farms trading in disadvantaged areas.

TOP Agro Slovensko 2011
As the most successful management in agriculture – MATEX was awarded in prestigious TOP AGRO Slovakia Competition – in the category of disadvantaged areas. MATEX was awarded 1st prize in 2011, 2017 and 2020
Based on the results achieved in 2011, the Research Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics evaluated the companies that entered the 17th year of the Top Agro Slovakia competition.
The total number of registered companies was 1,116 companies, of which 684 were legal entities and 432 were natural persons. The companies were evaluated according to the methodology approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic, and the comments of the Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPPK) and UniCredit Bank Slovakia representatives were also taken into account.

Other indicators, such as the revenue from crop and animal production, livestock numbers and the social aspect (number of employees) were also taken into account in this evaluation.
Competing companies were able to obtain a maximum of 300 points. Thus the top 100 was compiled.
They were divided into several groups according to legal form (agricultural cooperatives, trading companies, self-employed farmers, agricultural services, small and large landowners) and natural conditions (production and disadvantaged areas).
Matex also succeeded in this competition, and thanks to its economic results company received for the very first time the highest award – 1st prize for work by management in their category of disadvantaged areas.
According to these results our company took 10 -11 place.
